2009 Lancer GTS - Stock class H right?

Postby rox on Wed Jun 09, 2010 7:51 am

Hey.

Just starting up with this Autocross stuff.

I did some drag racing in my 2008 GTS (crashed it unfortunately, but not on the track - so I got the car replaced by insurance). Drags are fun, but not for FWD ~150hp/tq cars. You can only have so much fun running high 15's. I'll still do it, especially if I add something new to the engine but my car is made more for circuit racing.

I've been reading the rules and class info, I'm pretty positive I would be running the Stock class, Class H.

The car has only minor modifications:

SRI, Catback Exhaust.
All else is stock, short throw shifter coming soon.

I'm running Royal Purple oil and a K&N filter - but that doesn't really account for much...
Planning on replacing spark-plugs with Iridium Electrode plugs...

Tires are 215/45/R18 (Dunlop all season - these tires are horrible btw) with Aluminum Alloy wheels.
Rear/Front Stabilizer 20mm/21mm respectively.
2.4L 16V engine, not dynoed yet so I have no clue what the actual numbers on this car are.

Anyway, I'm hoping to make it out to at least one or two events this year.
Anybody running any of the 2008+ Mazda 3's? I think these are the closest competitors to my car.

SRI = Short ram intake? Right? Not stock legal. Neither is the short throw shifter, if you get one. I think the Lancer would be in F Street Prepared (FSP) with the mods you have.

It should also fit into ST and/or STX shouldn't it?

Hm, well good thing I asked.

Yes SRI - short ram intake.
I was a little unsure about the rules about that, I guess the Stock would only apply if I changed the Air Filter but not the Air Intake?

I had no idea the short shifter would affect the class as well.

This is a bit more complicated than Street Legal Drags at Castrol hehe.
I like it :)

I guess I'll do a little bit more digging to revise which class I should be in.

It should fit in ST (Street Touring), I had to check the displacement limit. Probably a good place to play, as it allows some of the more common mods.
One thing, no limited slip diffs except for factory viscous types in ST. I don't know what a Lancer has but this would need to be confirmed by the OP.

For some reason I never remember to suggest the ST classes.

No LSD on that Lancer. I don't think any of them come with LSD factory spec.

Mind you, I was planning on putting one in but first of all I don't have tools or knowledge to do that yet, second I don't even think there is one that will fit this car, third I have no money for that anyway.

So then ST it is?

Geez, what about the short shifter though? I don't see anything about shifters until the Street Modified category...

Thanks! It's funny how I miss the shortest sentence in the whole section...
